Lady Victoria Jane Emerson left behind her girlish notions of romance when Jonathan deserted her without a backward glance. Now the time has come when she must finally choose a husband, and she has vowed to marry someone who will never break her heart.

Jonathan Pierce Thatcher, Viscount Remington, has returned home, free of all his family's debts. Only to discover that by some miracle he has been chosen to vie for the hand of his beloved Victoria. To convince his only love to once again believe in the magic of love and the promise of desire will be his greatest challenge yet. And one he cannot fail!

When I first picked up this book I didn't realize it was part of a series.  I've since added the other books in the series to my TBR!  While part of a series, this could easily be a stand alone book - which is a big plus!

The story of Jonathon and Victoria had me intrigued.  Young and in love, they are torn apart by distance, family and obligation.  He in Venice - tied to an obligation he can't get out of.  Pushing Victoria from his life for her own safety and his sanity.  Her in England - stuck in a situation where she must marry.

These two have quite the chemistry despite being apart for so many years. They fight it at every turn until fate hands them an arranged marriage by her father.  I really loved how things worked out for these two characters.  They really were meant to be from a young age.

I've always loved the "love lost, love found" scenario in books.  Especially learning about what happened to the characters in the years apart.  This story is definitely one of those!! Jonathon led quite the life in Venice - I'm not going to spoil it for anyone by revealing what he did!

Anyone who loves historical romance will thoroughly enjoy this novel!  Highly recommended!

  1. I love these kind of romances. I haven't picked up any of Marvelle's books before. I will have to find them!

  2. I absolutely love Delilah's books. I still have yet to read the last book in this series: THE PERFECT SCANDAL.

  3. @booksNyarn - they are great books I'm on the hunt for the other books in this series myself!

@Kati - Ohh.. I'm going to add that to my list right now!! :)

  4. I LOVED the whole series. Delilah is fantastic! And if you can get your mits on her first two books you will be in heaven! Mistress of Pleasure and Lord of Pleasure.
