The Wicked Blog Tour - Guest Post & Giveaway

Thank you Aislynn for hosting the WICKED blog tour!

Aislynn and I were chatting about my blog post and decided I should talk about New Years Resolutions. I thought that was a GREAT idea because (at the time) the New Year was approaching and everyone does resolutions right? RIGHT?

Yeah, I don’t do that. Why it didn’t occur to me at the time I will never know. So then I was trying to figure out WHY I don’t do resolutions. I think it’s because if I want to change something about myself or my life I don’t wait for a new year to do it. I don’t have any resolutions to make because I’ve learned over the years that I don’t function that way.

I used to make resolutions, I think, I’m sure I did. But I don’t remember what they are because they never meant much to me. Over the years I have endeavored to change whenever it was needed. Waiting, putting it off, only meant I wasn’t ready for it.

So I jump. When something is wrong, when something isn’t working I analyze it, and I try to fix it. Right then.

I participated in Romance Biggest Winner, a weight loss competition that started last summer and went for six months. I wasn’t ready for it. I joined for the promo and to meet others and thought maybe it would be helpful. But I knew I wasn’t ready. A month later, I was. I wasn’t merely ready I was determined because of another catalyst. Watching Derek eat. (weird? yes. but listen)

He is AWARE of every single thing he puts in his mouth. EVERY SINGLE THING. It was an awakening. I didn’t give food a second thought. I was hungry I got something I liked. I saw something I liked, I ate it, even if I wasn’t hungry.

It was easy, and I was incredibly unhealthy and I knew it. I wanted to change that but wasn’t ready to do it. Then I did. I lost 46 pounds in those six months and WON the competition for the authors. It was amazing to me. Derek led me every step of the way, he helped me make better choices, helped me learn to eat out with my family without breaking my new lifestyle.

There is another round of RBW coming up in February so if you’re ready to make that kind of a change you should join up. It’s worth it just for the friendships and moral support.

I plan to do it again. You can just try to catch me ;)

So there it is. I’m not much for the big resolutions. I prefer change when change is needed. I’m an action kinda girl. Which is probably why I was so determined to write this book and get it out.

Probably why I got frustrated that agents and editors didn’t understand what I was trying to do and decided to do it myself. SO here it is. For you. I certainly hope you enjoy it.

A woman out of time.
A man stifled by propriety.
A nemesis determined to take her away.
A brother to the rescue.

How will a powerful Duke deal with a woman who doesn't know her place? How will a woman used to the 21st century survive in time where she is considered property?

Francine Larrabee woke up on the wrong side of the century. She was fairly certain she went to sleep in her own comfy bed, but she doesn’t quite seem to be there now. Only adding to her problems is that she has no voice, is constantly being glowered at by a large, stunning man who is obsessed with propriety, and she is apparently betrothed to another horrid little man, determined to ruin her, and any other girls that get in his way.
How does she find herself in the past, when she couldn’t even find herself in her present? How does a self sufficient businesswoman survive in a time when women were still considered property for the whole of their lives and what is she going to do with this man who draws her to him so fiercely.

  1. Well it's probably an obvious question Jenn, but....What are you gonna do next?

    1. Beebs I am working on my second novel, BETWEEN A FRIEND AND FOREVER, maybe out this summer. I'm casting and editing now. :)

    2. Great Jenn, I'll keep an eye out for that :)

  2. I'm curious about the reason for the serialization?

    1. Because 240k is a not daunting, because the story truly lends itself to serialization, because that's how it was originally meant to be. There are a few reasons. It's actually been a lot of fun, and you can try it, not like it and your out a LOT less money.

      Also, smaller files means

      :) Jenn

    2. Less cost for you guys from Amazon.

  3. When it comes to doing these picture stories I just wonder how they first come to you: in pictures or words? I think they are so neat, Jenn :)

  4. Thank you Na! The book wasn't envisioned as an illustrated novel when I wrote it, so the story was already there. But the next book I've written I know will be, so it has been a new layer of thought that I have put into writing it.

    Which has been fun.

  5. Wow Jenn, the books look great! :) I like the covers too!

Anyway, I wanted to ask what made you think of writing these novels in the first place? Like your inspiration or perhaps how the ideas occurred to you!

And out of curiosity, are all the books actually one long story? Or can they be read out of order?

    1. My inspiration was the first line of the book really. I woke up with it in my head and I could remember the first scene playing out in my dream. It all started there.

Because it is a serial it cannot be read out of order, it is a one way road. Each book builds on the last.

      Good luck in the giveaway!

    2. Oh wow, that's pretty cool! Hmm, I see! Thank you! :)

  6. Your series looks great! When did you first start writing it?

    1. I wrote it from March to May of 2009. Edited for a year, shot for a year, designed and published it. It has been quite a long ride, the next one is going much easier actually. :)
