Blog Tour: Ember by Madison Daniel

About the Author:

Music is LIFE and the written word is our SOUL. Music and writing have been my true ambition since I was a child. I have used music in every form possible; writing it, performing it, healing with it, etc. I call it my "life's soundtrack." I have always written in some form, from comic books to screenplays to short stories and now the new series "Ember." I have spent my writing life inspired by all the music of the universe, 80's movies and eye candy. When not writing I enjoy dreaming out loud, challenging the real world and inspiring the ones I love. I have found a true passion for my stories and characters and am eager to share them with the world. See you on the next book tour...M.D.

~ Times Like These ~

"It’s times like these you learn to live again...” - Foo Fighters

How do you live with a mistake?

How do you move on?

How do you remember your smile when that mistake is irreversible?

How do you “live” again?

These questions make up the soul of my book Ember. When my young fire-starter causes
the worst of mistakes unintentionally, it sets in motion a chain of events that shape the rest of his
life. He will hide from his heart. He will turn away from the ones that need him most. He will
burn on alone. BUT he will never give up the search for hope.

My name is Madison Daniel and I am ‘slightly’ new to the literary world. When asked to
write my first guest blog, I knew I had to talk about the essence of the world I have created. I
wanted to address the one thing that lives and breaths throughout the book. Within Ember there
is a mysterious island paradise, exotic people and places, amazing music and the ultimate gravity
of lost love. But that is all just a clever disguise to hide this one true thing. Hope. This is the
constant truth that haunts the beautiful and tragic landscape that is the Ember series.

As I have pushed forward in my journey of self-publishing and now indie publishing, I
have found that my words can be much more than just...words. They can be a light. A beacon for
those who need an escape. The thought has humbled me. Completely. I write because it is a part
of me, a necessity. There is a little, devilish monster that forces the wildest of my dreams to be
scribbled down on paper. (He’s tiny but boy is he strong!) My stories will not change the
world...they are not meant to. They are offered as an escape from the daily grind of that thing we
call life. So, when a person approaches me after they have taken the time to read my newest book
and share a tragedy or terrible stroke of bad luck with quiets my muse.

When they share such personal situations I feel as if I am in their inner circle. I am a
piece of their quiet confidence. AND when they tell me that my words helped them escape their
pain, even if only temporarily, it fills me with...hope. We all get knocked down, some more than
others. We all feel the sting of life once in a blue moon. We all end up in the dark once in a
while. When faced with this, there is only one thing to do.

Find the light.

It’s there. It’s always there.

Sometimes it’s not as bright as we would like it to be but it is there.

To any who have taken a quick second to share their “moments” with me, good or bad, I
thank you. I appreciate the trust you have given me. I will never forget your kindness. I don’t
have all the answers. What I do have is the unlimited imagination of a simple storyteller.
Dreamscapes and fairytales that you are always welcome to use as you wish. As a relaxing
escape, as a quiet comfort, as a shield from the darkness. I write for you. I burn for you. I thank

As my troubled fire-starter continues his search for hope, so will I. As he walks through
the darkness with fire in hand, in search of the light, so will I. Except I’ll lead my search with a
pen and paper. (I know, I know, not half as cool!) BUT I promise to have a box of matches! It’s
not an inferno but it is a start.

Hold onto your smile.

Remember your light.
Shine on.

Sneak Peek:

Prologue: Nightmares

~Stop Crying Your Heart Out: Oasis~

 “Hold on.”

“Hold on. Don’t be scared.”

Please don’t let go. The pain is dizzying. Just do not let go of her. This is my fault, I’m sure of that now. Look her in the eyes and don’t let go of her. Whatever happens, don’t let her be scared. Be stronger, for her.
Nothing else matters now. Not the pain. Not my mistake. Not the taste of blood in my throat. Not the smell of ash all around us. All that matters is her…just her. Hold on.
“Hold on a little longer!” I scream. I’m starting to panic. Stop it! You know what happens when you panic. I have to calm down. Just breathe. Stay calm. Do it now, for her!
“Max I’m slipping!” she screams.
“No! I won’t let it happen!” I say focused. But she was right. I was losing her. I’m heating up again. Try harder and focus.
“Help me Max! My hands hurt…it burns! Help me! Please!” she cries louder. I’m so dizzy now. It’s too hot. I’m too hot now. I can’t hold her. She slips away and my heart breaks.
“Noooooooo!!!” she wails but her voice sounds so far away now.

Slow motion again. The dark pulls at the sides of my eyes and they burn something awful. Fight it. Fight the darkness. I reach out in front of me as far as I can. My eyes burn and I cannot see through my tears. But I can still see the look of terror on her face. I can still see her tears and her burnt and broken hands.
“Please no!” I beg. The world grows heavy.
“Don’t go…don’t go away…” Now I was screaming. She falls away.

I fade away…blackness.
